Jesús M. González-Pérez

PhD in Geography from the University of Santiago de Compostela. Full Professor of Geography at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB).
President of the Spanish Geographical Association (AGE). President of the ANEXXI Network (National Geographic Institute, Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility). Vice-President of the Spanish Committee of the International Geographical Union (IGU). Director of the Chair in Urban Studies at UIB and of the School of Geography and Global Change at the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP).
He has been a visiting researcher/professor at twenty foreign universities and has extensive experience participating in scientific expert panels at both national and international levels. He has been awarded five six-year research evaluation periods (sexenios).
He serves as Advisory Editor of The Urban Book Series published by Springer and sits on the Editorial Board of the New Springer Book Series: City Development. He is the author or co-author of over 150 scientific publications, has guest-edited seven special issues in indexed scientific journals, and has participated as a research team member in 23 competitive research projects funded by various agencies — serving as Principal Investigator in ten of them.
He has delivered around 130 invited lectures and presentations, as well as numerous contributions to national and international conferences. He has served as an advisor to the Urban Consortium of Platja de Palma on issues related to urban planning, spatial planning, and tourism, and was a member of the International Advisory Council for the Statute of Autonomy of the Metropolitan District of Quito (Ecuador).
His current lines of research focus on the study of cities and urbanisation processes at multiple scales, urban inequality, gentrification, housing access and policy, as well as urban rehabilitation strategies and methodologies. His main geographical areas of study include Spain, Europe, the United States, and Latin America and the Caribbean.
