Biography

Dr. Manuel Seeger is an Akademischer Oberrat at the Chair of Physical Geography, University of Trier. He studied Geoecology at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) and earned his PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) in Geography from the University of Freiburg in 2001. His academic career includes positions as a scientific assistant at the University of Trier (2002–2008) and as a university lecturer at Wageningen University in the Netherlands (2009–2011), before returning to Trier, where he has served since 2012, becoming Oberrat in 2016. His research focuses on Earth surface processes, particularly runoff generation and soil erosion across scales and landscapes. He has extensive field experience in both Mediterranean and temperate regions, working on topics ranging from semi-arid steppes to vineyard slopes. Dr. Seeger is also actively engaged in teaching, offering seminars, field excursions, and thesis supervision for BSc and MSc students. His expertise combines field-based process research, hydrology, geomorphology, and methodological innovation in observing and quantifying landscape dynamics.
